The Accessibility Game

About Course

Welcome to The Accessibility Game!

I’m that blind woman Julie Woods, Your referee and match official. This game has been inspired by saying “why not” to “Do you want to referee a game of nude touch rugby?” which I did in 2004 when I took the field with my red, yellow and pink cards around my neck. In this game I have used these coloured penalty cards along with my why not response as a way of helping you and your organisation become more disability confident.

In this game we will look at some disability statistics, the definition of disabled people, the barriers people with impairments may face in accessing what you have to offer, as well as using the yellow and red cards to learn about ableism. As part of this game you will also say “why not” to opportunities that will move you towards disabled people and their stories.

And why not join me and others at The Accessibility Game Supporters Club to share stories and inspire the world to be more accessible!

But before we do any of that, I’m going to show you how to meet and greet a blind person
